Biography

As a young traditional leader, Togbe Kosi Nego VI was at the center of community response during the Mepe floods. His leadership blended tradition, coordination, and emergency management.

Before the flood

He was actively engaged in community leadership, responsible for local organization and communication within the Traditional Council.

During the flood

He led evacuations across Mepe, mobilizing boats and youth volunteers. He coordinated with NGOs and the media, ensuring that food, water, and mobile clinics reached stranded residents. For several days, he worked continuously without rest, personally helping with rescues.

After the flood

He helped rebuild Mepe’s essential services, including establishing a temporary health center and organizing volunteer teachers when schools were closed. His leadership helped restore community morale.

Thought's about the future

He calls for technical and engineering solutions to prevent future flooding, as well as an annual remembrance day to keep the community aware of climate and dam-related risks.
